After the 2023 flood waters receded from the banks of the Ottauquechee, Judith Taylor explored the ruined landscape adjacent to the River Trail. From the mud and rubble, she unearthed rusted metal and fragments of glass, pottery, wood and brick, with which she created figures that bear witness to the transformative impact of the flood.
In this one-hour presentation featuring stories, images, and a brief musical coda, Judith will discuss the unexpected bounty — material and intangible — of her explorations, and what theyrevealed about the challenges and astonishments inherent in any creative work — painting, poem or the composition of a life.
Judith Taylor is a visual artist, writer, and teacher living in Woodstock, VT.
