West Windsor Town Forest

The West Windsor Town Forest encompasses more than 1,500 acres in the southeast corner of town. The forest is protected by a conservation easement held jointly by the Upper Valley Land Trust and the VT Housing and Conservation Board. The West Windsor Conservation Commission manages the town forest in accordance with a Community Forest Management Plan. In addition, the Town of West Windsor and Mt. Ascutney Outdoors, a local non-profit organization, have entered into a Land Use and Operating Agreement that allows Mt. Ascutney Outdoors to develop recreational facilities and offer programs and events in certain areas of the town forest. Please see below for links to the conservation easement, the management plan, and the land use & operating agreement.

Non-motorized use of the forest by the public is welcome, and there are many existing trails for recreational activities like hiking, mountain biking and skiing.

Unfortunately, it has come to the attention of the Conservation Commission that there may be unauthorized tree cutting and trail marking in the Town Forest. Please help us protect this wonderful resource by leaving it the way you found it, and by reporting any trail cutting or flagging which you believe is unauthorized.
